Spinner Card Fun with Sliding Star!

I have been playing around with spinner cards using the new Shooting Star / Sliding Star bundle from Stampin Up!  I had never heard of spinner cards before, and I was surprised how eat it was to create such a WOW factor!

How cute are those bees? They have framelits!
No fussy cutting!
These bees and hive are included in the bundle for 10% off, along with lots of other cute images and sentiments, like this paper airplane!

That's the By The Shore designer series paper on the background of this card.

Here's a video to show you how to put these fun interactive cards together!  The secret is in the "coin sandwich" that I describe and show in the video.

I was surprised at how many stamp sets can be successfully used with a spinner card!  It's like these sets were made to be spinners!

Here I used the new Confetti Celebration with our 2016-2018 In Colors Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo. I punched the star with the medium star punch so there was no fussy cutting at all!

I had to try my other favorite, Swirly Bird, and this kite was cuteness overload.  I stamped it in Peekaboo Peach and Bermuda Bay, then attached a little tail with Bermuda Bay baker's twine and those little bows... a little fussy cutting!

The clouds are from Sprinkles of Life and the sentiment was borrowed from Garden in Bloom. When you turn the framelit to be a smiley face, the spinner will spin fast! The rainbow orientation spins more slowly.

I was so happy to find out that the Number of Years numbers fit very well inside the inner circle (which is 2" in diameter).  If you want to create a different center piece on your card, use your 2" circle punch!  The curved sentiment "look who's turning" fits great into the track of the spinner card and makes a cute little play on words. P.S. Any photopolymer stamp can be curved to fit into this space!

The butterfly and sentiment come from the Watercolor Wings and Butterfly Basics stamps. I look for excuses to use these all the time because they're so beautiful. Spinner cards make a GREAT excuse!

What else would make a cute spinner? Leaves!  Vintage Leaves (with coordinating framelits) are perfect for a spinner! The sentiment is from Sprinkles of Life.

The goal was to see if I could use the framelit track at a different angle instead of just the "rainbow" or "smiley face" -- the answer is yes! This worked well. I tried vertical and it didn't work so well for me. I need to try again now that I have more practice with this type of card.

If leaves, why not feathers?  Feather Together is a new stamp set with an ideal spinner image as well as a sentiment that fits into the center circle!  I was really happy with the color combination - Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim, and Soft Sky.

I also decided to do a double spinner - one card, two tracks!  Worked beautifully with the new Seaside Shore stamp set. I was really pleased with this color combo as well.

Now let's try two spinners on one track!  I placed my foam strip adhesive at two points near the edge of the circle to stop the spinners from colliding too hard and getting tangled.

I also made a few variations to the spinner card. I wanted to see what else I could do with this die set.

This bike just slides instead of spinning. I put a washer behind each tire. I recommend using a larger image so it will hide your washers!

On this one I made the central circle image to spin in place instead of a spinner circling around. I did this by placing the washer behind the card.

Instead of the "coin sandwich" you need for a spinner card, I made a sandwich with one coin and my stamped image (the tools). I needed a way for it to attach to the card and rotate, so I made a little paper donut that could hold the coin against my card base.

To build it, I first placed the coin in the center of my card base (the Basic Grey), then put the donut on top of it. The donut was adhered to the grey card base with dimensionals only around the outer edges, allowing the coin inside to spin freely. Through the middle of the donut hole I adhered the dimensional onto the coin, and attached the stamped tools image to it. I hope that makes sense.

I hope you've been inspired by these fun interactive cards! Remember to click www.scrappyz.stampinup.net to shop anytime, and don't forget the host code (top right corner of this page)

Happy creating!
